Casting gate or 'skim' gate filters are pressed from galvanised steel, steel or stainless steel wire mesh using dedicated tooling to achieve each customer's custom requirements.

These filters prevent contaminants in the liquid alloy such as air bubbles, oxides and other inclusions from entering the main casting; thereby greatly enhancing the intrinsic appearance and strength of the finished product.

The most common applications are steel castings such as engine blocks and alloy wheel casting plants.
