The UltraTEV Detector is a hand-held instrument, which is capable of detecting both internal and surface partial discharge at voltages of up to 90 kV
The presence or absence of partial discharge is indicated by way of a straightforward green, amber and red traffic light system on the front of the unit.
The instrument has been designed in conjunction with various industry experts and organisations, so as to ensure that the threshold settings - the pre-set levels at which the lights change colour - accurately correspond to the amount of partial discharge detected.
The UltraTEV Detector includes an ultrasonic sensor to detect early signs of surface discharge, a TEV sensor that picks up on internal discharge, and both sets of sensors work very well in noisy environments.
With just the one button, which turns the unit on and off, the UltraTEV Detector stands out as an ideal tool to equip personnel with to help ensure safer electrical inspections, and without the need for in-depth training.
