Description
This tour is for children in the age group 8-12 and their parents (or grandparents). The tour starts with the visit to the Mausoleum of Mausolus at Halikarnassos (one of the Seven Wonders) and ends with the Temple of Diana at Ephesos (another Wonder). We meander round the Ceramic Gulf - close to Bodrum - and visit places that we think will be of particular interest to children in this age range. These include the Museum of Underwater Archaeology in the Knights' Castle at Bodrum, the Friday market in Bodrum, Cleopatra's Beach, the village of Ören which is built over ancient Keramos and Knidos, a great site with a lovely theatre and where there are great walks. On the gulet there will be talks, workshops and games to complement the site visits. David is a qualified teacher with a background of theatre. We are hopeful of some impromptu performances in the theatres we visit! But, above all, it should be an enjoyable week and we can confidently expect some excellent swimming. On leaving the boat we drive to Ephesus and spend our last night in a comfortable hotel.
