Terracotta has always traditionally been a favourite in kitchens but can also add warmth & colour to halls, dining rooms, living rooms, studies, and conservatories.
With hand made terracotta every tile has subtle differences, in colour, shape, size and the surface can be convexed or concave. It is this variety that creates the ultimate character of a terracotta floor and gives it a natural beauty that will enhance any room, terracotta improves with age as the floor wears and enriches it's patina.
Machine made terracotta's are equally at home in modern or traditional environments, and are ideally suited where a more consistent colour and/or smooth surface is desired.
The right choice of tile size can create a feeling of space in a small or narrow area, and in more expansive areas, larger tiles can really give the feeling of bringing a room together, a variety of sizes are available from 20x20cm to 40x40cm.
Most terracotta's are are only suitable for indoor use as they absorb water, which may then freeze causing the tile to crack or flake if subjected to frost. If used outside we would strongly recommend that they are well sealed with the appropriate sealer to reduce the risk of frost and water damage.
