The Rioja region in the north of Spain has been the top red wine producing area in the country for a very long time. Even though the quality of wine has increased tremendously in Spain over the last 20 years more fine wine is still produced in the Rioja area than anywhere else. As well as producing great wine the area is stunningly beautiful with the great Sierra Cantabria mountain range as a back drop. Lots of attractive towns and villages that exude history are dotted around the area, some with a distinct medieval feel about them.
Also, as befits a great wine region there is a great cuisine to match: stuffed peppers, potatoes with chorizo, asparagus, lambchops grilled on the embers of vine cuttings, great seafood from the Bay of Biscay to the north. We invite you to come with us and explore this wonderful part of Spain, visiting wineries which range from the very traditional to the very modern, tasting wines from the young and fruity to ones with great depth and complexity.
