Description
This tour takes in some of the most splendid sites of ancient Ionia, including Ephesos, Priene and Miletos. We then visit some coastal sites of ancient Caria, including both spectacular Knidos and Kaunos, and conclude the tour at rarely-visited Oinoanda. An important theme is to see places associated with the development of western philosophy and science, from the beginning of speculation about the physical world at Miletos, via the appearance of Christianity at Ephesos, to the last flowering of Epicurean philosophy at Oinoanda where an extraordinary inscription details at length rules for achieving happiness.
