Description

All heat is generated within the fluid, providing the highest heating efficiency possible. This, combined with easy installation and accurate control, makes electric immersion heaters highly useful in many industrial heating jobs. Water solvents, plating baths and solutions are some of the many liquids commonly heated electrically with immersion heaters.

Typical Construction Features

The basic heavy-duty tubular element, with Incoloy is formed to fit tanks, vats, etc. Both ends of the element are sealed in a mounting device. All joints in the liquid are of suitable metal to resist corrosion. Power connections are normally made in a terminal box which protects terminals from splashed liquids, spillovers, etc. The terminal box is heat and corrosion resistant. A thermostat detects temperature changes in the solution and gives accurate temperature control.

Uniform heat distribution leads to long element life.

Screw-PlugType

Screw-plug type heaters are screwed directly through a threaded opening in the tank wall. Heavy tank walls may be drilled and tapped if thickness is sufficient. Lighter tank walls should be equipped with suitable pipe coupling attached with proper solder or weld material, or a back nut could be provided.

Basic Types of Mounting

The three basic types of mounting represent the most common methods of getting the heat-generating portion of the heater into the material without interfering with working space either inside or outside the containing vessel. In general, the screw-plug types are used in small and medium sized containers, while the pipe flange types pack large heating capacities into larger vessels. Both types can be selected for high termperatures and pressures. For thin-wall vessels, clamp-type heaters may also be used - generally in low-pressure installations. Over the side types, with large heating capacities, permit portability, easy removal for cleaning of tanks and wide adaptability to working area within the tank.
