- In detail
The natural erosion of river banks, lake shores and channels is an ongoing process and if left unchecked can result in geotechnical failure, often affecting road and rail infrastructure and pedestrian footpaths. Protection against erosion is typically provided in the form of a shallow revetment. Where undercutting has occurred forming a vertical bank, a river wall maybe required providing both geotechnical support and erosion protection.
Maccaferri has a wide range of double twist wire options, geosynthetic geomats and also natural fibre solutions available to meet your project needs. Maccaferri software for the design of channels (MacRA 1) and drop-structures (MacRA 2) can be used to rapidly identify suitable erosion protection products required. MacRA 1 channel design software allows the user to enter performance characteristics of any manufacturer's erosion control method or product (mats, gabions, grasses, wattles, brush-layering, live staking etc) for comparison.
