Darjeeling holidays

One of the major hill stations on top of every tourist Itinery is Darjeeling, nestled in the Siwalik Range of the lesser Himalayas. Situated in the Northern Part of the Indian state of West Bengal, the city's location and natural beauty has allowed it to carve a name for itself. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railways is one among the UNESCO World Heritage List. The city is also world-famous for its tea industry. There are several tourist destinations in Darjeeling perfect for holidaying. Among the major tourist attractions is the Tiger Hill, which is situated at an elevation of about 2590 m and gives a splendid view of the sunrise over Kanchanjunga in shades of gold, orange and magenta. In the mornings, with the fog slowly lifting in the slightly penetrating sun, the town bustles to life. Mount Everest, the world's highest peak is clearly visible from here. Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park, located about 10 km from the town are most frequented picnic spots. Other important places in the city worth visiting are the Ava Art Gallery, Darjeeling Mall, Batasia loop, Lloyd Botanical Garden, Nightingale park, Darjeeling-Rangit Valley Passenger Cable Car popularly called the 'ropeway', observatory hills, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the monasteries. Neighbouring areas around Darjeeling like Kalimpong, Kurseong, and Mirik makes for weekend getaways. Accompanying the brewing of tea can be heard the sing-song Gorkhali, the local dialect.
