Cladding and Facades Servicces
As part of the Greater Manchester Police's relocation to Newton Heath, design build contractor SCC Limited were appointed for the design, manufacture and erection of cladding panels to the building's external façade.
The panel design has been worked up from original plans and elevations provided by project architect, Aedas Manchester.
The structural design of the panels has been carried out in partnership with structural engineers Tier Consult, and Jordahl Pfeifer Building Systems. Panels take their bearing some 425mm off the structural face of the building, giving the effect that they are floating.
From the outset, Aedas vision has been one of a crisp, clean, consistent panel, simply detailed and manufactured to a high standard, which will grace the building's external facade. This has been achieved by the careful selection of concreting material, with the use of Spanish dolomite fines, a small proportion of Derbyshire spar, limestone aggregate and white cement; with the panels taking their final effect from differing levels of acid etching.
All panels have been produced in advance at SCC's Reddish facility to ensure a 'just in time' delivery approach, thus relieving on site congestion.
