Description
This tour is the perfect introduction to one of the most dramatic and undeveloped stretches of the Turkish coast. Apart from the first, we expect to spend all nights in quiet bays. The swimming will be superlative. Two days are spent in and around Kekova, a region which, until a few years ago, was isolated from the rest of Turkey. Even today, the village of Kaleköy can only be accessed by boat. You will also see some spectacular ancient sites: little visted Arykanda, high in the Taurus, the Roman theatre at Myra, the great granaries of Hadrian at Andriake, Lycian pillar tombs at Xanthos and the evocative remains of churches on the monastic island of Gemiler. Michael's talks will be wide ranging: As well as covering the historical and cultural background, he will also talk about environmental aspects - the geological and the botanical in particular.
