Description
A 19th century French mantel clock.
The clock comprises a gilded brass and ormolu decorated case with an eight day, hour striking works. The case has bevelled glass panels to the four sides, the front glass panel is overlaid with a decorative ormolu mount which matches the decoration to the rear door.
The clock dial is enamel with Roman numerals and "Paris Rue Tur . . .(possibly Turenne)" painted, but faded, below the key holes. The ormolu mounts are of exceptional quality but one scroll is missing from the back right hand of the urn.
The clock is in working order and the works have a one year guarantee. (Circa 1870)
